Dr. Ron Gilat is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in knee, shoulder, and hip care. Dr. Gilat’s clinical expertise spans across multiple prestigious medical institutions. He completed an orthopedic sports medicine fellowship at Midwest Orthopedics at Rush University Medical Center, one of the leading orthopedic and sports medicine programs in the world. Prior to fellowship, Dr. Gilat had completed his residency at Shamir Medical Center in Israel. His international experience and leadership in medical education have also positioned him as a Senior Lecturer (Assistant Professor) at Tel Aviv University.
Dr. Gilat is focused on managing complex injuries in athletes and non-athletes alike. Accordingly, Dr. Gilat has served as a team physician for elite sports teams, including the NBA’s Chicago Bulls and MLB’s Chicago White Sox. His work extends to collegiate and high school teams, exemplifying his dedication to sports medicine at all levels of competition.

Dr. Gilat’s research is widely recognized, having published over 100 peer-reviewed articles in top medical journals, authored numerous book chapters, and edited several books. He has also been an invited speaker at major orthopedic conferences worldwide, presenting groundbreaking studies on sports injuries, advanced cartilage restoration techniques, and orthobiologics. A thought leader in the field, Dr. Gilat serves as a reviewer and editorial board member for several distinguished orthopedic journals, including AJSM and Arthroscopy. He remains actively involved in orthopedic societies and committees, including AOSSM and AANA. His commitment to advancing orthopedic surgery is further demonstrated through his pioneering work in integrating artificial intelligence into medical practices and predictive algorithms.

Dr. Gilat’s professional accolades include magna cum laude and summa cum laude honors from Ben-Gurion University. Dr. Gilat had also received the department chair award two times during his training. Dr. Gilat is also board-certified by the Israeli Board of Orthopedic Surgery and had passed his board exams with highest honors granting him an outstanding achievement award. His scholarly contributions are not only influential in orthopedic surgery but have also been recognized through several prestigious grants and awards. Dr. Gilat is the recipient of grants from AANA and the ON Foundation. His work on osteochondral allograft transplantation has now been awarded the 2025 OREF Clinical Research Award, one of the most prestigious awards in the field.
